Freckle Tattoos Are A Thing?

Devon Aoki Freckles

The beauty industry runs on people’s insecurities. Women getting rid of the slightest imperfections have made cosmetic surgery a billion-dollar empire. Recently, however, people have discovered cosmetic tattooing, a beauty treatment used to enhance different features on your face. From microblading to permanent eyeliner, cosmetic tattoos have taken over social media.

One of the most popular treatments at the moment is freckle tattoos, and it’s become the hottest new beauty trend!

What are Freckle Tattoos

Freckle tattoos are a semi-permanent procedure that mimics natural-looking freckles using either a tattoo gun or a single needle (hand-poked) tool to place pigment into the skin, with hand-poked giving more natural results than a tattoo gun.

If you want freckles, choose a cosmetic tattoo artist over a general tattoo artist, as the process is very different from a traditional tattoo. Pigments used for freckles are the same ink for eyebrow microblading, not body tattoos.

When deciding on placement, experts recommend experimenting with makeup to see what you like and to bring in a few reference photos to your appointment.

What the Process is Like

Like any other treatment, freckle tattooing begins with prep. You need to go in bare-faced for your session. Make sure you have no make-up on and wipe your face beforehand, just in case.

Before the treatment, the tattoo artist does a mapping of your face. Your skin is analyzed to see whether it’s oily or dry and if you have any freckles on your face to start. Next, a numbing cream is applied to the skin and left for 30-minutes.

Freckle tattoos can take a few days to about two weeks to heal and up to three months to fade into a more natural color.

If You’re Considering It

Freckle tattoos are one of the latest makeup trends people are obsessed with. However, they’re not so easily reversible if you don’t like them, and they could cause scarring if you’re not careful. Do your research before trying it and go to a certified cosmetic artist for the best results.

If you still want them, they are semi-permanent after all. So, it might fade completely by the time you regret it.
